Paige Bueckers Using Her Platform to Fight Hunger

UConn basketball star Paige Bueckers is not just making a name for herself on the court but also using her platform to support those in need. Through a partnership with education technology company Chegg, Bueckers has donated $50,000 to the Husky Harvest food pantry, which helps UConn students and staff facing food insecurity. This donation is just one of the ways Paige is actively combating hunger and supporting her community.

The Husky Harvest food pantry, located on UConn’s Storrs campus and across other locations, saw significant demand, with hundreds of students relying on it each month. In addition to this donation, Bueckers has organized free pop-up grocery stores in her home state of Minnesota. These events aim to help individuals who may be struggling to make ends meet by providing access to free food and resources.

“I know college is very expensive, and students have to worry about paying for a lot of things, so to take one more thing off their plate, literally, is amazing,” Bueckers said at a press conference announcing her donation. She continued, “I want to do everything I can to make sure that everyone has access to food and doesn’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.”

Paige’s commitment to fighting food insecurity highlights how much impact one athlete can have off the court. By using her NIL deal to give back, Bueckers is not only making a difference at UConn but also inspiring others to use their platforms for good and create change in their communities.
