Allison Janney’s Efforts for Animal Rescue
In September 2021, actress Allison Janney raised $50,937 for Amelia Air, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing shelter pets from euthanasia. The funds were generated through a 10-day sweepstakes featuring exclusive memorabilia from Janney’s show, Mom, which had recently concluded after eight successful seasons. Items included autographed scripts, wardrobe pieces, and full DVD sets.
The initiative coincided with Janney’s final Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Bonnie Plunkett on Mom. Over 1,200 donors participated, contributing to the significant total raised. Janney’s involvement highlighted her commitment to animal welfare and her willingness to leverage her platform for meaningful causes.
The success of the fundraiser was also attributed to the efforts of Stacy Schecter, Amelia Air’s social media and press manager. Schecter coordinated the prizes, content, social media, sweepstakes setup, press, and shipping logistics, ensuring the campaign’s smooth execution.
Amelia Air, co-founded by Petra Janney and Dean Heistad, utilizes aviation to transport animals from high-kill shelters to safe environments where they can be adopted. Since its inception, the organization has rescued numerous animals, providing them with a second chance at life.
Janney’s continued support underscores her dedication to philanthropy and her passion for animal rescue. The funds raised have been instrumental in furthering Amelia Air’s mission to save more lives.
