Lewis Hamilton’s success on the racetrack is legendary, but his legacy extends far beyond Formula One. In 2021, he founded Mission 44, a charitable foundation designed to break down barriers for young people and create opportunities that allow them to thrive. Inspired by his own experiences growing up as the only Black driver in the sport, Hamilton launched the foundation with a clear vision: equity, inclusion, and empowerment.

Mission 44 works across three main areas—inclusive education, STEM employment, and youth empowerment. Each focus reflects Hamilton’s determination to challenge systemic inequalities and help young people unlock their potential. By addressing school exclusions, supporting diverse talent in science and technology, and amplifying youth voices, the foundation seeks to create a fairer future.

One of its key projects has been tackling the disproportionate rates of school exclusions in the UK. Mission 44 works with educators and policymakers to keep students engaged in learning and ensure they have the support needed to succeed. Alongside this, the foundation partners with organizations like AFBE-UK to inspire careers in STEM, providing young people with access to mentors, training, and real-world pathways into industries where diversity is still lacking.

Mission 44 is not just about education and employment—it is also about empowerment. Through collaborations like the “Give an X” campaign, the foundation encourages young people to participate in civic life and feel confident in shaping their future. By listening directly to young voices, Hamilton ensures that Mission 44 remains relevant, impactful, and guided by those it serves.

Lewis Hamilton’s journey shows that leadership doesn’t stop at winning titles. With Mission 44, he is using his influence to fuel change and create opportunities for generations to come. It’s a legacy of speed, compassion, and action.
