Before returning to the Eras Tour in Miami, Florida, Taylor Swift donated $5 million to Feeding America. The donation will support relief efforts for Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Feeding America shared the news publicly on October 9, 2023, and thanked Swift for helping communities affected by the disasters.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot expressed appreciation for Swift’s contribution. She explained that the money would help provide important supplies, including food, clean water, and emergency resources for families recovering from the storms. The organization also stated that the donation would support communities as they rebuild their homes and lives after the destruction.
Hurricane Helene caused severe damage across several southeastern states after making landfall in September. According to CNN, the storm resulted in more than 230 deaths and left many communities struggling with flooding and destruction. At the same time, Hurricane Milton brought dangerous weather conditions to Florida. Heavy rain and strong winds forced officials to issue evacuation orders in more than 50 counties.
Swift has consistently supported food-related charities during the Eras Tour. The Associated Press reported that between March 2023 and August 2024, her donations provided the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of meals to people across the United States. Representatives from food banks in states such as Colorado, Georgia, and Minnesota explained that her support had a positive impact. In addition to financial assistance, her donations also brought attention to the growing issue of food insecurity.
Terri Shoemaker from the Arizona Food Bank Network told CNN that Swift’s support came during a time when the demand for food assistance was increasing rapidly. During the European part of her tour, Swift also donated to food banks in several countries.
This is not the first time Swift has contributed to disaster relief efforts. In December 2023, she donated $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund after deadly tornadoes struck the state.
