Warren Buffett Gives Away $6 Billion

Legendary investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett has once again made headlines—this time for deepening his remarkable legacy of giving. In July 2025, Buffett announced a $6 billion donation to several charitable foundations, bringing his total lifetime contributions to over $60 billion.

Buffett, now 94, has consistently upheld his commitment to philanthropy. His latest donation supports the five foundations that have long been central to his giving: the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation (named after his late wife), and three foundations operated by his children—Howard, Susan, and Peter. Each organization has a unique mission, but all focus on meaningful impact in areas like global health, education, and poverty reduction.

The Omaha-based billionaire began his major philanthropic journey in 2006, pledging to gradually give away more than 99% of his fortune. True to his word, Buffett’s charitable contributions now exceed the value of his remaining Berkshire Hathaway shares.

In a statement released with the donation, Buffett reiterated his belief in the responsibility that comes with wealth: “My needs are simple… and I’ve never believed in dynastic wealth. I’ve been blessed with extraordinary good fortune, and it’s my job to give it back.” This philosophy remains at the heart of his long-standing support for The Giving Pledge, a campaign he co-founded with Bill and Melinda Gates, encouraging billionaires to commit to giving away most of their wealth.

Warren Buffett’s steady, thoughtful philanthropy sets a powerful example in a world where urgent needs persist. His approach—grounded in trust, humility, and long-term vision—continues to inspire others to use their wealth to serve the greater good.
